Prior to New Zealand’s level 4 lockdown, Suburban Luck set about recording a 4 track EP. Unfortunately, only two of the tracks were completely recorded prior to the idea of collaboration becoming temporarily illegal. Those two completed tracks were released on 29/05/2020 as the double single Speak Together. The other two tracks were completed remotely with the use of sampling existing recordings and programming, to allow the creativity to continue while the band members were unable to be in the same room for two months.

The resulting songs on Listen Apart lean far more toward their electronic influences than the prior double single, making use of extra layers & sounds not covered by the band’s efficient lineup. This release carries with it all the weight of the national lockdown and will make for an interesting listen post-lockdown.
